Everything Arts Everywhere

Welcome (back), Tar Heels!

No matter who you are, where you’re from, or what your artistic skill level is, we invite you to get creative with us this year! For those who don’t know us or for those who could use a refresher, scroll through our quick overview below to get to know who we are and what we do!

Who we are

Arts Everywhere is a comprehensive initiative at UNC to make the arts a fundamental part of the University culture and daily campus life. Through innovative programs with campus and community partners, Arts Everywhere harnesses the unique power of the arts to inspire curiosity, provoke change, and promote a more creative Carolina.

Creative Interruptions

Short Story Dispensers

Did you know that we have 8 touch-free short story dispensers on campus and in the community and anyone can submit a piece to be published in one? Plus, if you’re not on campus to print a story from a machine, you can still peruse them online! Follow Short Story UNC on Instagram for the latest news!

Pop-up exhibits

To keep our campus and community safe, we couldn’t hold in-person exhibits last year. However, we wanted to find a way to bring art to the community so we partnered with the Carolina ARVR Club and the Downtown Partnership to create an interactive virtual art exhibit.

Public art

Watch out for some new murals coming to campus this Fall! Until then, here are the two newest pieces of art that were installed last year!

Project Support

We love supporting students when they come to us with their ideas or apply for project support through our Student Arts Innovation Grant! Read about a few past projects such as the exhibit Intimate Economies by Krysta Sa (’21) and the play, sons that wear dresses and mothers that love sweet potatoes by Gage Tarlton (’20).

And we have to mention Arts Everywhere Day!

A campus wide celebration of the arts in which we engage the campus community with diverse arts experiences, transform campus spaces into creative hubs, and raise awareness of the breadth and depth of the arts at UNC.
