Hip Hop South Festival: “Dirty South Scribes” Exhibit by Dr. Regina Bradley
Description
Open to the Public
10 AM–4 PM and 10 PM–12 AM
While there is a plethora of writing available about northeastern hip hop culture and its impact, there is a dearth of scholarship and resources available to understand hip hop’s influence on the contemporary American South.
This exhibit by Dr. Regina Bradley seeks to highlight and honor the Southern-based writers who have broke ground in writing about southern rap’s significance. The exhibit will feature portraiture and pull-out quotes from veteran journalists and scholars whose writing spearheads the growing body of work about Southern hip hop. Exhibits will also feature a QR code for visitors to hear featured writers share their oral history about the challenges and triumphs of writing about Southern hip hop.
