Arts Everywhere is a comprehensive initiative at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to make the arts a fundamental part of the University culture and daily campus life. Established in 2016 with the visionary support of Chancellor Carol L. Folt, the initiative is led by Special Assistant to the Chancellor for the Arts Emil J. Kang. Built on a model of programming through partnerships, the initiative collaborates with diverse departments, units, and organizations to embed creative expression, live arts experiences, and arts learning into students’ Carolina education.
Arts Everywhere believes the arts unlock our fullest potential, both as individuals and as a collective. The arts prompt us to see the world with new eyes, allowing us to solve problems in non-linear ways, ask difficult questions, access creativity, and think unconventionally. Through both shared and singular experiences, the arts cultivate emotional intelligence that equips us to respond empathically, embrace difference, and better understand our shared humanity.
Arts Everywhere supports students’ pursuit of meaningful, fulfilling lives by helping them imagine new possibilities and fostering the creative mindset required to solve the world’s most complex problems.
